Central Asian Turk (Urbanised)

This list represents the later more urbanised Central Asian Turkish armies that fought each other, the Later T'ang & early Sung Chinese, Tibetans, Silk Road States and Abbassid Arab armies between the 6th and 9th Centuries.

It covers the armies of the following tribes:

Western Turks (Blue Turks)

Later T'u-chueh (Eastern Turks)

T'u-yu-hun

As the tribes had greater contact with their 'civilised' neighbours their tactics changed, becoming more 'close-combat' orientated and the quantities of armour increased.

As with the early Central Asian Turk this list encompasses the following Geographical Boundaries:

Lake Balkhash in the northwest; Herat/Samarqand in the west; Tibetan plateau in the south; and the main Chinese Yellow River border in east.
