The Traditional Irish list represents the Irish from the decline of heroic chariotry until the ascendancy of the Galloglaich as the dominant force in Irish Warfare, roughly 600-1200 AD. These were the Irish who lived on the fringes of the more settled Irish areas (be they Scots-Irish, Norse-Irish or Vikings in Ireland). It also represents the Irish as they existed prior to the Viking invasions and in those areas with limited contact with Vikings or access to their equipment. Armor was in short supply even among the Nobles. The Irish relied heavily on ambush and are described as 'making a mad rush, showering the enemy with missiles and retiring.' The Vikings certainly thought of them as cowardly and beneath contempt. Gall Gael or Wild Irish Warbands represent Hiberno-Norse half-breeds, outcasts and the like who plagued Ireland at this time. Lastly, heavy darts are treated as javelins.
