Early Kingdom of Jerusalem 1110 to1143

This army is intended to cover the period from the firm establishment of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem (which took Baldwin I about ten years of hard work) to the fall of Edessa in 1144. During this period, the early Kings of Jerusalem managed to dominate both the other Christian states of Outremere and the local Saracen Emirs.

The relatively large Saracen Allies package reflects the willingness of the early Latin Kings to exploit the rivalries between the Saracen principalities in the region, occasionally lending military support to a local Muslim prince when they deemed it in their best interests to do so.

*Crusader Knights can be interpreted as early (pre-1125) forces, or in later years as either typical military “pilgrims” from the west or the more poorly equipped local barons. A maximum of 6 KN/HC units may be purchased from these three lines. In historical matches, Holy Order Knights (KN) and Outremer Barons (HC) should be limited to the latter part of this period. In competitive play, they may always be used.

**Christian and Saracen units must be deployed in separate divisions. If any Saracen Allies are purchased, all must be purchased. Saracen Allies may not be purchased with Holy Order Knights.

Should the Saracen package not be selected, these units do not count towards the requirement for obtaining the extra light division. However, if it is selected then the extra light division may still be obtained, provided that all the possible remaining (i.e. Christian) light units are purchased.
