Early Kingdom of Poland

This list covers the armies of Poland from the dominance of the Poles over the other Slavic tribes in the mid 900's AD, through the establishment of the Kingdom of Poland in 1025 AD (King Boleslaus I recognized as King of Poland by Holy Roman Emperor) until Poland fragmented in the mid 1100s AD. Poland differed from other Slavic Kingdoms, with the notable exception of Bohemia which it annexed in the 11th Century, in that Poland increasingly oriented itself to the West. This trend would continue until the Mongol conquests. Poland was a cosmopolitan Kingdom where military influences from the Frankish West and Russian East mixed with existing Slavic and Turkic military styles to form a unique Polish Kingdom, culture and military style.
