With the loss of most of the Latin Kingdom’s lands after Hattin and the Third Crusade campaign, the bulk of the native Christian troops and infantry (particulaly the Turcopoles) disappears. This is - to a degree - compensated for by aid from the Cypriot Kingdom, but the fact was that the defense of the Kingdom’s remaining territory was largely in the hands of the ferociously competitive and self-serving Holy Orders, supplemented by visiting military “pilgrims” who agreed to serve for a season or two.

*”Crusader” Knights can be interpreted as either typical western “pilgrims” or the more poorly equipped local knights.
# A total of only three FT units may be selected from these three lines. Manpower (particularly trained infantry) was always in desperately short supply during this period.
** The Kingdoms of Acre and Cyprus, although legally separate dominions, were often ruled by a common monarch during this period. However, the Cypriot Barons (and sometimes the Kings themselves) were often reluctant to render significant help to their mainland compatriots, seeing it as a waste of blood and treasure in aid of a basically hopeless cause.
If any Cypriots are purchased, all must be purchased. If no Cypriots are purchased, then Cypriot light units are not included in the purchase requirement to obtain an extra light division.
