*Depictions of Bosporan infantry depict some infantry wearing armor, carrying an oval shield, and carrying three spears of equal length with large heads. No actual javelins or depictions of javelins with infantry have been found. I see these as LHI.

** Tacitus states that Bosporan soldiers used Roman equipment which was manufactured by the Bosporans. Tacitus states that the Bosporans were equipped like Romans in the fight between Mithradates III and Cotys. Roman style equipment has been found by archeologists. Bosporans used oval shields. Bosporans may have been among the troops trained as legionaries by Mithradates VI Eupator.
