This army is based heavily upon the researches of Chris Peers. It attempts to represent the Sung armies better than the A2 list.
The Northern Sung 969-1127 had a smaller , but still huge and more professional army than the Southern 1127-1280 Sung. Bows continued in wide use, but the crossbow was the weapon par excellence.
Later Sung armies were huge, mainly infantry forces that used terrain and fortifications heavily.
The militia, Pao Chia was organised in circa 1080, but is more characteristic of the Southern armies. Pao Chia may support other FT in echelon.
Hsi are a nomad tribe in Sung Service. T'ung Shih Chun are Mongols who fled to the Sung. After the defeat of The Sung they were received back into the Mongol army somewhat to their surprise.
The She tribe were allies of the Sung in the XIIIth century.

OPTIONAL, EXPERIMENTAL RULE. The Longbow SI 'Engine@ represents the long range large sharpshooting crossbow that took out the enemy general at one battle. It cannot fire and move and cannot evade. This rule is an optional, experimental rule intended to add a little flavor to the Sung army which may only be used with the opponent's consent and never in tournaments.
