Quadi

The Quadi were a German tribe who heavily Sarmaticized, i.e., they copied the Sarmatian style of warfare. They were noted for having armor for horse and man of leaf like scales made of thinly sliced horses' hooves. It appears that they were not as heavy as the Steppe Sarmatians. The list author could find no record of the Quadi as mounted archers possibly because they were copying the lancer tactics of their Iazygian Sarmatian neighbors.

Notes:

The Marcomanni were forest Germans. It is very likely that they were absorbed by or became the Allamanni. Both fought as allies of the Quadi.

This army may fight in both the Age of Empires and Triumph of Cavalry eras. When fighting in the Age of Empires era, the army must field at least three warbands and one Marcomanni cavalry unit from the Bonus selections. When fighting in the Triumph of Cavalry era, the Marcomanni slingers may not be purchased and two Marcomanni cavalry must be purchased from the Bonus selections.

*Only Marcomanni SI sling or javelin may provide support per Section 7.8.5 and only to the Marcomanni HC. No other light troops may provide support.

Marcomanni WB are BP 4 and move 6 inches.

Ordo Link: There are many references to the Quadi in many threads dedicated to Germanic type armies, as well as a dedicated thread at Quadi. And as always in these situations, a general search using the Search function on the main Ordo page could also prove useful.
